The Holy Eucharist is an incredible mystery, inspired by the gift of faith and the grace of God. The Eucharist is Jesus, the eternal Son of God, fully present – His Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity. During the Consecration of the Mass, the priest repeats the very words of Jesus as he instituted the Eucharist at the Last Supper, transforming bread and wine into the Body and Blood into the true presence of Christ our Lord. The Eucharist is God Himself entering our souls in a real and personal way, deepening our relationship with God the Son. It is an invitation from God the Son to enter into communion with us, and in this unity, we share in His death and resurrection from death. God is true to us in this precious gift.
The Mass is the central act of worship of our Catholic Faith. It is the perfect sacrifice, instituted by Jesus. Through the priest, we offer Jesus, Body, and Blood, to the Father, just as Jesus offered Himself to the Father on the Cross. We make present Christ’s death and Resurrection and offer God our praise, sorrow for our sins, and deepest thanks. The Mass follows a set Liturgical formula, composed of the Introductory Rites, the Liturgy of the Word, the Liturgy of the Eucharist, the Communion Rite, and Concluding Rites. The Liturgy of the Eucharist is the summit of our entire faith and worship as we enter into the celebration of the Eucharistic
Sacrifice, adore his divine presence, and receive Him in Holy Communion.
